Where to store

A covered shed or carport is the best place to store your RV. Ensure there is a minimum of a 200mm gap between the roof of your RV and the roof of the storage structure and that it is sufficiently ventilated.

If this is not possible to store in a shed or carport then ensure that a suitable RV cover which has been designed to protect from rain, hail and UV damage is used to shelter your RV.

This is especially important if your RV is stored near coastal environments.

If your RV is stored in tropical climates, ensure that the cover you use allows for evaporation of any moisture trapped underneath.

Before Placing in Storage

• Clear out of any debris and perishable items.

• Defrost the freezer compartment and leave the fridge door ajar.

• Turn off gas and gas appliances.

• Ensure 240-volt appliances are turned off.

• Ensure that your toilet cassette is thoroughly emptied and the tank is cleaned out using a manufacturer-approved product.

• Empty out your gray water tank and give it a thorough rinse with fresh water.

• Empty out the fresh water tank.

While in Storage

Check your RV regularly (at least once a month) and check your battery level. If it drops below 12 volts then top up your battery from a charge source (turn on the engine, plug in 240 volts, turn on the solar system).
